Helen is a keen scrabble player and recognised as the top woman player in the world. She is currently ranked 9th in the UK and was the British Matchplay Scrabble Champion in 1998. Hels represented England in the 1999 World Scrabble Championships in Melbourne, Australia, the 2003 World Scrabble Championships in KL, Malaysia and the 2005 World Championships in London.

The official website of the Association of British Scrabble Players (ABSP) is the primary site of interest to tournament Scrabble players in the UK. It maintains the current tournament ratings as well as providing information about clubs and tournaments. Its links page provides a variety of information.

Scrabble info is maintained by Steven Alexander, but if you are interested in competitive Scrabble in the UK give Helen a call or contact the ABSP for more information. When we lived in Berkshire we used to run one tournament a year, the East Berkshire Scrabble Weekend, so we can provide some hints in this area too.

There are plenty of Scrabble clubs in the UK and they all welcome new members with open arms. For details of your nearest club, contact Philip Nelkon at Mattel who will be happy to help.

The latest available UK ABSP ratings are on the ABSP site.
