The Last Gunslingers 1999-2003

The Last Gunslingers was an online bridge team in Riko's OKbridge Team Ladder.

The team disbanded in July 2003 but I have left this page as a testimony to the enjoyable times we had.

The primary aim of the team is to give the team members the ability to play competitive bridge on the Internet in a friendly environment. Winning is far less important than playing the game in the right spirit.

The team consists of adv/adv++ players and the intention is to play (at least) a couple of times a month where possible. There are absolutely no restrictions on the location of team members. Play will be primarily on Saturday and Sunday in the European timezone, although if the team is of sufficient size and able to play on alternative days I'll obviously expand the scope, i.e. we have had some success getting teams for Wednesday evenings (1100am OKB).

We have now established a North American sub-team, captained by Doug (drp) , that is available to play at the weekend during the OKB evening. Contact drp if you wish to challenge us for a game at that time, although I'd be grateful if you copied me on the challenge.

The good thing about this ladder is that it rewards teams who make a lot of challenges and win occasionally, as losing only drops you a single place. Therefore, it will be the intention to play as often as practical.

Although it is beneficial to have regular partnerships playing, all members of the team should be happy to play with anyone else on the team.

As the team captain, I am responsible for arranging the matches and selecting the teams. I intend to select players on a rota basis, keeping partnerships together (if they wish) whilst trying to ensure that everyone plays a similar number of games.

It is important that the team enjoys the game.
